Lessons learnt

1. Lunch break is good to get away from stress and when the stress is faced head-on again, new eyes of strength preside.

2. Remember what my role is and who it caters for. Develop ownership of my position and for that to occur, allow time to strengthen the bonds between.

3. Don't harbour unrealistically high expectations on myself. Maintain my learning attitude and try my absolute best to get things right. Learn from my mistakes.

4. Put myself in the shoes of those I cater for and remain calm in the face of confrontation. Explain my point of view and listen to the views of others. Be humble.

5. Always pray for God's wisdom and guidance. Never test Him by not doing so.

6. When daunting tasks are to be carried out, remain calm and refer to my notes. Pray! Then, embark on the tasks.

7. Even if the nerves get to me, never conceal them with arrogance.

8. If nothing can be done at present to improve the situation, worrying won't help.

9. Take silence as approval. Stop being so paranoid!

10. Never forget favours done unto myself. Return them with similar help.

11. Never give up on tasks assigned even if I have gone past my deadline. Spur myself on!

12. Learn to read people's body language, speech tones and facial expressions. They may speak volumes about true feelings.

13. Insert my own flavour into my role.
